Tunnelling and Underground Construction Society Singapore (TUCSS) is pleased to announce the launch of third edition of TUCSS PROJECT OF THE YEAR Award 2024 (the Award). The winner of the award will be announced at the TUCSS Annual Dinner.
TUCSS Project of the Year Award is an initiative by TUCSS to enhance the professional standards of tunnelling and underground construction works in Singapore and acts as a stimulus for the growing pool of tunnelling and underground construction engineers in Singapore to raise the bar in professional standards, knowledge, best practices and broaden the mind set of innovation to achieve excellence in such works.
The Award provides a platform to showcase the epitome of well-executed tunnelling and underground construction projects from planning, logistic, risk management, cost effectiveness, safety standards to the successful delivery of the project to clients and accords recognition to the winning project team each year for outstanding efforts, contributions and achievements in tunnelling and underground works in Singapore.
Nominations for the TUCSS PROJECT OF THE YEAR Award are invited from the corporate members of TUCSS.
a) Project budget must be greater than Singapore Dollars Thirty Million (SGD$30million).
b) Project must be recently carried out and completed in Singapore.
c) Project team must display management expertise in carrying out the works safely and promptly;
d) Project must adopt innovative approaches or ideas, which contribute to increased productivity and advancement of the local profession or the industry.
Each nomination for the Award (Nomination) must be submitted using the prescribed Nomination Form attached in Annex A. The Nomination Form can be downloaded by clicking here.
The submission of each Nomination (Submission) must be accompanied by an Executive Summary on the nominated project, of not more than one thousand (1000) words, that addresses the Eligibility Criteria, state the project details including complexity and challenges faced and how they have been overcome as well as the contributions and achievements together with all relevant supporting documentations and data.
TUCSS reserves the right to disqualify any Nomination which in its assessment does not meet the Eligibility Criteria. No notification or reasons will be provided to the disqualified Nominations. All decisions by TUCSS with respect to the qualification or disqualification of any Nomination shall be final and binding. There shall be no claims whatsoever against TUCSS arising from such decision.
The duly completed Nomination Form for the Awards, together with the Executive Summary and all the supporting documents and data, must be received by the TUCSS Secretariat NO LATER THAN 1 August 2024 at the following address:

An independent Judging Panel comprising three (3) prominent experts will be appointed by TUCSS President to evaluate the shortlisted Nomination and decide on the winner of the Award.
Only shortlisted nominees will be notified in writing and will be required to conduct a twenty (20) minutes presentation before the Judging Panel during the period between August to September 2024.
Unless otherwise notified in writing by TUCSS, the presentation must be in the form of a PowerPoint, multi-media and / or video presentation.
Such presentations MUST amongst others demonstrate how challenges encountered by the relevant project were overcome, how safe and prompt completion of the works was achieved notwithstanding such challenges and display any innovative approaches or ideas adopted.
Site visits may also be required by the Judging Panel to view the projects and if required, shall be arranged by the shortlisted nominees.
All presentation materials shall form part of the Materials (as defined below) for the Submission for the relevant shortlisted Nomination.
